Sludge Power Generation

It is the process of burning waste at high temperature in the presence of excess oxygen. Heat energy, inert gas and ash are formed. Obtaining net energy depends on the composition, density, moisture content and inert materials of the waste. The combustion can convert 65-80 percent of the thermal content of organic matter into hot air, steam and hot water. In the special designed facilities for waste-energy conversion, urban solid waste is burnt and converted into clean and renewable energy. These facilities are equipped with modern pollution prevention and emission reduction equipment.

It is relatively quiet and odorless.
Land needs are low.
It can be installed near settlements in order to reduce transportation costs.
It is hygienic.

The waste sludge from both the biological waste water treatment systems and the chemical treatment processes must be dewatered with the new legal regulations and 90 percent solids. Generally, thermal sludge dryers are used for this purpose.

The wet sludge transferred from the inlet silos to the drying unit is dried in thermal dryers with the heat energy obtained from the gas engine and boiler and made to contain 90 percent solid matter. This is done by drying the sludge directly or indirectly into the atmosphere in a closed environment.

The dry solids content of the sludge in the dryers is greatly increased under low temperature and pressure. The sludge from the unit is transported to the outlet silos without any leakage and is ready for storage. The inlet and outlet silos have a deodorizing unit to prevent odor problems.
